About Trout Lake (John Hendry Park)

Trout Lake sits in the heart of East Vancouver, inside John Hendry Park, a beloved 27-acre community space that includes an open lake, grassy fields, sanded shorelines, walking paths, and mature tree cover. It is one of East Van’s most active gathering spots for families and a year-round outdoor classroom.

Our Trout Lake camps use the open grassy fields for movement and games, the sanded shorelines for mud kitchen play and water observation, the lakeside picnic areas for meal times, and the surrounding trees for shelter building, sensory exploration, and quiet moments.

Why We Chose Trout Lake

• Easy access for East Van families. Central to Commercial Drive, Strathcona, Hastings-Sunrise, Mount Pleasant, and Renfrew-Collingwood.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Drop-off and pick-up windows, meeting points, and parking suggestions are shared directly with enrolled families one week before camp begins. Transit access is available via the 20 Victoria bus and the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain (15-minute walk).

The East Vancouver Neighbourhood

Trout Lake is surrounded by some of the city’s most established family neighbourhoods. Nearby attractions include the Trout Lake Farmers Market (Saturdays in season), the Trout Lake Community Centre, Victoria Drive shopping, Commercial Drive cafes, and the Central Valley Greenway. It is one of the most loved family spaces in East Van for good reason.
