How much does Sunhouse Camps cost?
Sunhouse Camps cost $500 for a child's first week and $425 for every week after it, with no GST added. For one child, two weeks are $925, four weeks are $1,775, and all 8 weeks are $3,475. Siblings save 10%.
See the 2027 weeks and prices Can I book just one week?
Yes, every Sunhouse week is booked on its own, and families take anywhere from one week to all 8.
Can I get a refund or switch weeks?
Sunhouse registration fees are non-refundable once paid, including for sick days, missed days, and days cancelled for weather, except in special circumstances we decide are fair. You can move to another week only if that week has space.
Read our terms and conditions Is there a sibling discount?
Yes, Sunhouse takes 10% off for every additional child. Each child is priced on their own weeks, and the discount comes off the smaller bookings, so the child with the most weeks pays full price.
What ages do Sunhouse Camps accept?
Sunhouse Camps are for children ages 5 to 8. Your child needs to be at least 4 years and 10 months old on the first day of each week they attend, and the booking checks this from their birthday. The range is by design, and our 6:1 ratio is built for it.
Are there full-day summer camps for 5 year olds in Vancouver?
Yes, Sunhouse runs full days, 9 AM to 3 PM, for children from age 5. Many camps for this age run half days; ours is a full day outside, with rest, snack, and lunch built into the rhythm so younger children keep their energy.
Choosing a camp for a 5 year old When is camp in 2027, and what are the hours?
Eight weeks, Monday to Friday, from July 5 to August 27, 2027. Camp runs 9 AM to 3 PM, with drop-off between 8:50 and 9:00 AM.
Where do camps run in 2027?
Sunhouse Camps' home base is Trout Lake, in John Hendry Park in East Vancouver, and it runs every summer. We are adding more parks for 2027, announced in late 2026, and the early bird list hears first.
About camp at Trout Lake When does registration open?
Sunhouse registration opens to the early bird list first, then to everyone in January 2027. Groups are small by design and popular weeks fill early, so the early bird list is the way to get first choice.

Is my child ready for a full day of outdoor camp?
Most children ages 5 to 8 are ready if they are toilet trained and can keep up with the group on walks. Asking an educator for help in the washroom is completely fine. Keeping up matters because staying together is how we keep everyone safe.
Where a washroom is not close by, educators may guide children to go in nature, so it helps if your child is comfortable with that.
Is there care after 3 PM?
Yes, through our sister company Sunhouse Babysitting, which can pick your child up from the park when camp ends at 3 PM and care for them at home into the evening, one to one. Babysitting is booked and paid separately.
Visit Sunhouse Babysitting What should my child bring, and what should stay home?
A backpack they can carry themselves, a water bottle, a lunch they can open on their own, closed-toe shoes, and a wide-brimmed hat. Toys, screens, and anything precious stay home. Enrolled families get a full packing checklist before the first day.
Read the full gear guide How do drop-off and pick-up work?
Caregivers sign their child in with the educator between 8:50 and 9:00 AM. At pick-up, guardians show photo identification and sign their child out. Any additional pick-up contacts must be approved in writing by email first. Full details are in our terms.

What happens during a camp day?
Every Sunhouse day follows the same rhythm, and the theme changes each week. After drop-off at 8:50, the group leaves together on a nature walk, then moves into sport and tree climbing. Snack and a story come at 10:30, followed by child-led sensory play in the mud kitchen. Lunch is at 12:30. In the afternoon an educator leads a guided group activity, like an experiment, a bigger craft or a build, and the day ends with a closing circle at 2:45 before pickup.
Along the way children practise the social side of growing up: working in teams, saying how they feel, and solving problems together.
Hands-on outdoor STEM runs through the day, as children:
- Prototype ideas and revise their designs
- Explore balance, weight, structure, and motion
- Collaborate to solve building challenges
- Transform loose parts into imaginative creations
Is there any indoor time?
No, Sunhouse is fully outdoors. Every hour of camp, from drop-off to pickup, happens outside in the park.
What happens on a rainy day?
Sunhouse camp runs rain or shine, and children come dressed for West Coast weather, which builds resilience and a real connection with the outdoors. We change plans only for dangerous storms, extreme heat, or poor air quality from wildfire smoke, following our safety protocols.
How is Sunhouse different from a community centre camp or a forest school?
Sunhouse is a full outdoor day in summer, in small groups at 6:1, with every educator trained in one documented approach, The Sunhouse Method. Community centre camps are general recreation, usually with larger groups and more time indoors. Forest schools usually run year-round, child-led, with the same group for months.
Forest school vs outdoor camp, explainedUpdates
What is the child-to-educator ratio?
Sunhouse keeps six children to every educator, at every point in the day. Each park takes up to 30 children a week.
Who are the educators?
Every educator is trained in The Sunhouse Method before they meet a child, and is reference checked, background checked, and CPR and First Aid certified. Our camp managers are qualified primary school teachers.
How will I know what my child did all day?
Every family receives a weekly video recap of their child's time at camp, with photos and notes on key moments of growth. You can also check in with your child's educators about how they are doing.
