About Trout Lake
Trout Lake is where Sunhouse began, as a year-round outdoor preschool. The children in that pilot grew up and started primary school, and the programme grew with them into summer camps. The park has been our home base ever since.
John Hendry Park gives a group everything a full outdoor day needs: a freshwater lake, a sandy shoreline for the mud kitchen, open grass for running games, and mature trees for shade and shelter building.
Children spend the whole day outside, rain or shine, with one educator for every six children, every one of them trained in The Sunhouse Method.
Getting there
- John Hendry Park, near Victoria Drive and East 15th Avenue, a short walk south of Commercial Drive.

How much does Trout Lake camp cost?
$500 for a child's first week and $425 for every week after it, with no GST added. Siblings save 10%.
When is camp at Trout Lake in 2027?
8 weeks, Monday to Friday, from July 5 to August 27, 2027. Camp runs 9 AM to 3 PM, with drop-off from 8:50.
Can I book just one week?
Yes. Every week is booked on its own, and families take anywhere from one week to all 8.
How many children are there each week?
Up to 30 children a week at Trout Lake, with one educator for every six children.
When does registration open?
Registration opens to the early bird list first, then to everyone in January 2027.
