When Does Summer Camp Registration Open?

Most Vancouver summer camps open registration between January and March, and the smaller programs tend to fill within days of opening. Sunhouse Camps opens 2027 registration to the public in January 2027. Our early bird list is open right now, and joining it is how you hear first.

Why Timing Matters More Than It Used To

Vancouver has more families looking for summer care than it has quality outdoor spots, and that gap has widened every year. Camps that run small groups feel it first, because a program with six children to one educator simply cannot absorb a late rush the way a large drop-in program can.

What that means in practice is straightforward. Parents who wait until the school year is winding down are choosing from what is left, not from what they wanted. Parents who know the opening date and have their details ready get the week and the park they actually had in mind.

What the Early Bird List Actually Does

It is not a waitlist and it does not hold a spot for you. What it does is remove every surprise from the process.

Trout Lake, our home base in East Vancouver, runs every season. The parks we are adding for 2027, and how many, are confirmed in late 2026, and the list hears that before it is public. They also get the full week-by-week schedule ahead of time, so there is room to talk it through at home and line it up with holidays and work. And they are told exactly when registration opens, with enough notice to be at a screen when it does.

Every parent who joins gets a small number of emails, and only the ones that matter.

What We Are Running in 2027

Summer day camps for children ages 5 to 8, with six children to every educator, rain or shine. Every day is built on The Sunhouse Method, and every educator is trained in it.

One change worth flagging: there is no March Break program in 2027. We are putting the whole year into summer instead.

A Simple Plan if You Are Booking for Summer 2027

Now, through December. Join the early bird list. Have a rough idea of which weeks you need covered, because that is the question that slows everyone down on registration day.

January 2027. Registration opens to the public. If you are on the list, you will already know the date and have the link.

February onward. Popular weeks start to close. Booking now is still possible, but the choice narrows.

May and June. This is when most families start looking, and when the good programs are already full.

When exactly in January does Sunhouse registration open?

Do I need to book the whole summer?

No. Camps are booked by the week, and families take anywhere from one week to several across July and August.

My child turns 5 over the summer. Can they still come?

Possibly. The 2027 range is ages 5 to 8, with a firm minimum of 4 years and 10 months on the first day of the week they attend. The booking checks your child’s birthday against each week, so you will see which weeks fit.

Is there a March Break camp?

Not in 2027. Summer only.

What happens if it rains?

Camp runs. Children come dressed for West Coast weather and our educators keep the day going in all of it.
